Chef Lý Nguyễn grew up in her mom’s Saigon cafe in the 1970’s, where folks gathered, dined and dreamed about peace and freedom. Forty years later, she brought her family recipes and love for gathering people to the Pacific Northwest. Chef Nguyễn has not only established two of the most iconic restaurants in Vancouver - Phở Hoàng and Anh and Chi - but also became one of the very first Southeast Asian women and chef earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand in Canada.

Mom’s Sweet Soy - Mẹ’s Xì Dầu Ngọt - is a vegan sauce perfected by the Nguyễn sisters for over three decades. Together, the sisters, best friends and award-winning chefs - Chef Ly of Anh and Chi (Vancouver) and Chef Ngoan of Tamarind Tree (Seattle) - created a lighter, sweeter and smoother soy sauce that is quickly becoming a household staple and plant-based essential across the Pacific Northwest.
